historic transformation

This renovation of a renowned historic landmark in downtown Charleston balanced honoring the home’s story and character, while making it functional for a family of four. The client was not afraid of playing with color and texture in a bold, yet classic way.

The kitchen’s original structure was left untouched, but received new cabinetry, finishes, and fixtures to elevate it in elegance, as well as function. It connects to the central family space of the home via a butler’s pantry, which was saturated in color and a stunning mural wallpaper. A fun surprise within the dining room lies behind a closet door, where a vibrant bar is hidden.

Other features of this extensive renovation include the reconfiguration of a complex attic space into a fun child’s bathroom, and the updating of the original carriage house into a charming retreat for guests.
